Privacy Policy

Introduction

Pixiog Explore is a free and open-source Android application built with a strong commitment to user privacy. We designed the app so that your movement and exploration data stays under your control. You are not required to create an account to use the core features. All gameplay data including routes, discoveries, XP, levels, badges, and collections is stored locally on your device.

Accounts

You may optionally create a local account using only a username and bio. No email address or any other personal information is required. This account data remains on your device unless you choose to enable sharing features.

Data Collection

The app only accesses the minimum data needed for gameplay: precise GPS location while tracking, and device motion sensors. This data is used to reveal the Fog of War map, detect new discoveries, award XP, and create Adventure Logs. All processing and storage happens locally on your device.

Map tiles are downloaded from OpenStreetMap and cached locally for offline use. No personal data is attached to these requests.

Optional Sharing Features

You have full control over sharing:

• Heat Map Sharing: If you enable Heat Map sharing in settings, your frequently visited areas are contributed anonymously to the global heat map visible to other users.
• Leaderboard: If you enable the Leaderboard, selected statistics such as your average pace and longest bike ride (in your chosen units) may be shown to other users.

You can disable these features at any time to stop sharing.

Data Storage & Deletion

All core gameplay data, statistics, and your local account information are stored only on your Android device. Pixiog Explore does not maintain any central server database of user progress.

If you delete your account or reset the app, all local data on your device is permanently deleted. Any previously shared leaderboard entries or heat map contributions associated with your account will also be removed.

Third-Party Services

The only external service used is OpenStreetMap for map tiles. No analytics, advertising, or tracking services are used in the app.

Pixiog Explore is fully open source. The complete source code is available on GitHub, allowing anyone to review how data is handled and processed.

Pixiog Explore is not directed at children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available in the app and on our website.
